newer projects

Hello all!

I have been transitioning over to new projects. I have finished my swallow tail shawl and am now moving into a slouchy hat 60 cables using the same yarn that I used on the swallowtail.

I also have cast on for Carol Sunday's Milkweed long sweater/coat. it takes a lot of counting and concentrating but I finally think that I have caught onto the cables. It's always challenging to learn new cabling methods.

Personal news. I have been Diagnosed with a tumor circling my esophagus. After much worry and too many scopes the doctors have decided that they think it is benign . That news is a relief but they still want one more biopsy to be sure. that will happen in two weeks.

I do wish that I could just ignore it all, but I have to deal with it. if it becomes too uncomfortable and symptomatic It will have to be removed. I do have mild discomfort.

the treatment may be worse than the illness . which would involve segmenting out that portion of my esophagus. EYKES!!! I will post on it later.

Back to my knitting which is my comfort and joy and happiness. if I didn't have knitting I don't know how I could ever cope with anything.

my Swallow tail shawl which is coming along nicely. It is a cranberry rather than fuchsia a beautiful color.

Here is my very first self designed sweaters, my very first handspun sweater and my very first drop spindle sweater and my very first steeked sweaters.
I loved this project and I am so happy that the math all worked out for me. Now i have confidence in designing something new.

So on a down note. I have been making lots and lots of visits to the doctors because there has been a discovery of a tumor above my stomach and below my diaphragm. I had biopsies done on thursday through and endoscopic ultra sound. I will find out this week what is next. maybe it is nothing, but I may be in for some treatments. I will post on it later.

the worse blogger EVER

I am such a bad blogger that I actually forget that I have a blog until one day I am surfing other bloggers blogs when it dawns on me that I actually have one to work on. I was the same way with a diary and journaling. I always start out withgreat intentions, but quickly I find myself consumed with so many other activities. So I will call this my catchup blog.

It is one week till Christmas and I have done absolutely no Christmas knitting. I was looking through my stash last night thinking I could whip together 4 hats or a couple cowls when my husband put his foot down and knocked some sense into me. "You know you are biting off more than you can chew" You got to love my man. So now it will be some local bottles of wine and something yummy and some garden relish. whew!!

What have I accomplished?

I finished my sweater Girl Friday. YAY!! But Then.... I blocked it, and OMG!!! I Grew and oh Boy did it ever grow. It Grew 4 Sizes. the lower edge reached to my shins, the sleeves were 8 inches longer than my arm. I know.. I know... I should have blocked my swatch. Lessons learned.

I didn't take any time to chew on it much, I decided to rip it out immediately and not give my self too much time to mourn over it all. It was in hind site that I thought that I might have been able to felt it. I'm glad I didn't, because I have my yarn to use on a next project.

Other knitting news.

I have started knitting my drop spindle sweater

I am designing myself for myself. it is going to be an A frame with a zipper with see
d stitch along the edges and each side of the zipper. I am making it a steeking project and have accomplished the first 6 inches. I am still deciding whether to make it raglin or set in sleeves.

I am trying to spin whenever I have a free chance. I carry my spindle everywhere.

Also on needles. I have my first toe up socks. they are too small for me , but my daughter loves them. It is also my first after thought heal. I found it easy and successful.

Hello All

Here comes the dark nights of winter and I have some adjusting to do. sleep and exercise . eat well and stay away from SUGAR my favorite.

I have some catching up to do. I went to the vermont Sheep and wool festival in Tunbridge VT all day on Saturday Oct. 2nd.

Purchases from the day are 2 skeins of merino/cashmere and 5 lbs of top from Zellingers. Lovely. I also spent time wandering in a drunkin stooper just smelling and looking at all the fiber and animals. I love wool

here are some pics of recent additions to my stash.
